Christmas 2024

At Sunrise, we believe that just as God had a plan for His one and only Son, He most definitely has a plan for the thousands of hurting children in Kentucky who have been removed from their homes and feel like there is no room for them. 

“I didn’t know any foster family that would take in a 17-year-old kid. And for me, my rap sheet was a mile long of the problems I had. I’m thinking, they’re not going to find anybody to take me in.” –  Aaron.

This was said by a young man just after he was placed in foster care. Fortunately for Aaron, Sunrise found him, and he was united with two loving foster parents. “Best two people I ever met in my life!” said Aaron.
Our wish this Christmas, like every Christmas, is for all of our Sunrise boys and girls to experience a loving home filled with overwhelming joy and unconditional love.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services reports 8,317 children in out-of-home care as of October 6, 2024. In Kentucky, around 12 children out of 1,000 experience maltreatment each year. Among all 50 states, Kentucky now has the 14th highest rate for child abuse and neglect.
