These are my kids. I cannot imagine life without them. They are the best things ever to happen to me.” These words come from a former Sunrise foster parent who had the incredible experience of adopting her two foster children. This parent considers her two children a gift from God. And her children undoubtedly consider their loving home the perfect gift.
Our wish this Christmas, like every Christmas, is for all of our Sunrise boys and girls to experience a loving home filled with overwhelming joy and unconditional love.
Your gift to our ministry can give our kids exactly that. And your gift to Sunrise is needed right now. There is no time to wait. Not in Kentucky.
The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services reports 8,210 children in out-of-home care as of November 5, 2023. In Kentucky, around 15 children out of 1,000 experience maltreatment each year. Among all 50 states, Kentucky now has the 6th highest rate for child abuse and neglect. Throughout Kentucky, teenage boys and girls are sleeping in state park offices and foster care offices because they have no home to go to.
Sunrise is responding by rehabbing a building to provide a place where children may find respite. Children are desperate for love and hope and the opportunity to heal. We need to be there for them.
Please show your love and compassion for the children we serve by generously making a year-end gift to Sunrise that will help our children experience what they desire most: a loving home. We cannot help change the lives of children in this state without your help and support. Consider giving now through the enclosed envelope.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and wonderful Christmas and a blessed and happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Dale Suttles
President, Sunrise Children’s Services
